Hospital division
Out-patient department RARI, Gangtok, provides health care services both at the Institute and through its extension centres across Sikkim. In addition to OPD operating from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Institute features a dedicated laboratory wing for a wide range of biochemistry and pathology investigations. About 3,87,615 patients in the state have been treated since inception. The Institute is being accredited to Ayush Entry Level NABH certification from the Quality Council of India
Special Geriatric health care clinic
The Institute provides specialized healthcare services to the geriatric population. The comprehensive care is delivered through our Outpatient Department, offering a 60% discount on all services, including registration, Panchakarma, and laboratory charges. The institute ensures accessible and affordable care for all senior citizens of the society. A good number of patients are treated for their different age-related problems, like Vatavyadhi, Sandhivata, Madhumeha, Asmari, Hridroga, Asthila, Manashika Vikara, Vyanabala Vaisamya, Arsha, Bhagandara, Parikartika, Siragranthi, Amlapitta, Grahani Roga, Twak roga, etc.
Ayurveda Health Centres (AHC) under North East Plan (NEP)
Three AHCs are running in the three districts of Sikkim and providing health care services to the general public at Geyzing (West Sikkim district), Jorethang (South Sikkim district) and Mangan (North Sikkim district). The main objective of the project comprises providing health care services through OPDs, including basic health checkups, creating awareness about hygiene through counselling and distribution of IEC material among the masses in the local language, documentation of health-related demography, etc. Approximately 1400 patients benefit from the OPD facilities at AHCs monthly. All healthcare services at these three centres are provided free of charge.

Pathology and Biochemistry laboratory
The Institute is well-equipped with essential diagnostic instruments such as an Auto Analyzer, Hematology Analyzer, Binocular Compound Microscope, Incubator, Centrifuge, and Autoclave. Utilizing these facilities, a range of pathology and biochemistry investigations were conducted, including Kidney Function Test (KFT), Lipid Profile, Blood Glucose, HbA1c, Serum Calcium, Hemoglobin, Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Factor, C-Reactive Protein (CRP), Antistreptolysin O (ASO) Titer, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Blood Grouping, Urine Routine and Microscopic Examination (RE/ME), VDRL, HIV, and HBsAg.
Panchakarma unit
RARI, Gangtok features a Panchakarma therapy unit for both male and female patients separately, offering a variety of Panchakarma procedures such as Abhyanga, Swedana, Vamanakarma, Vasthi, Nasyakarma, Sirodhara, etc. All procedures are conducted under the expert guidance of experienced Ayurveda physicians.
Tribal Health Care Research Programme (THCRP)
Under tribal sub plan
The institute has dedicated itself to raising health awareness among the tribal population of Sikkim by offering doorstep Ayurvedic health services, including free consultations, check-ups, and Ayurvedic medicine distribution since December 2014. The project also validates folklore claims and local health traditional knowledge. Around 6000 tribal individuals benefit from the program each year. 8-10 folklore claims are being reported and documented through this programme every year on behalf of the claimants.
Ayurveda Mobile Health Care Programme (AMHCP)
Under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP)
The program commenced in 2016, and since then, the program has been dedicated to providing Ayurveda medical aid at the doorstep of the scheduled caste community in Sikkim. The program also aims to study their livelihood, socio-demographic profile, and disease prevalence among SC communities. About 5000 scheduled caste populations benefit from the program in Sikkim every year.
Clinical Trials
Since its inception, the Institute has conducted numerous clinical studies, contributing significantly to Ayurveda medical research. To date, approximately 31research projects have been completed in compliance with the Good Clinical Practices (GCP), each advancing our understanding and enhancing our healthcare practices. These efforts reflect our commitment to pioneering medical advancements and improving patient care.
Pharmacovigilance Programme
The Institute acts as a Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC) to monitor the safety of Ayurvedic drugs, raise awareness about Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) related to these drugs, and generate data on objectionable and misleading advertisements.
